Secret Santa

Sorry I am behind on blogging!!! I have been getting ready to leave for the college program!

During December a bunch of us on the facebook group for the Spring College Programmers decided to do a secret santa. We all posted our names and things we liked on a general board. We private messaged our names and addresses to the organizers, and then were sent back a name and address for the person we were to shop for.

I was a secret santa to Doug Aldridge in Louisiana. After looking on the page where people posted things they liked I started shopping for his gifts. One of the things listed was pb cookies, so I decided to make some and mail them along with some other goodies. I made the pb cookies with mickey mouse head sprinkles in them. Then I wrapped them in tissue paper and put them in a cute little Disney Xmas tin with the Winnie the Pooh Characters on it. I found a set of Toy Story Uno playing cards to add to the gift. I decided to also add a  $10 wal-mart card for any last minute shopping down in Disney. I packaged everything up along with a card and sent it off.

I couldn't wait to receive my secret santa gift, but I was also excited to see what my person posted when they received what I sent them. Finally my gift arrived!!!! It was a big cardboard box from Fla. It was a disney version of a snuggie with tinkerbells on it!!!!!! I love it! I had my friend Ashley record me open it, but we messed up and never actually hit the record button lol! I will post pictures of my gift later. I already packed up my camera stuff so I cannot upload pics until I get to Florida. Thanks so much to Sean Paredes for my gift! I loved it! I am also glad that Doug liked what I sent him! Also thanks to Steve Rau, Brittany Michelle Robinson, Kyle Stout, Ally Hathaway, and Karen Eberl for organizing the Secret Santa Event!!!

Holidays Approaching

Happy Holidays!
(Picture is Christmas Morning in Elementary School)

I hope everyone is not too too stressed out while finishing up any last minute holiday shopping and planning for parties. I have a few more things to pick up tonight, and then I will be done!

This past Sunday, my friends and I got together and went Christmas Caroling in my friend Derek's neighborhood. We go out and carol every year in his neighbor and then go back to the house and sit by the fire and catch up with hot cocoa. I love hanging out with my friends around the holidays. With everyone away at college now, we only see each other on breaks. I am going to miss them all tremendously while I am on the Disney College Program.

I am going to my dad's house on Christmas Eve for his annual holiday party. My brother and I usually go there on Christmas Eve, sleep over, open presents Christmas morning, and then go back home to Mom's to do it all over again over there.

My favorite part of Christmas is actually the day after on December 26th. My friends and I always get together for an annual Christmakkah party. We exchange gifts, play games, watch movies, eat, and sleep over. This year we are changing it up a little bit. We all decided that it is way too expensive, especially being poor college students, to get presents for everyone. We picked names this year so that we can all shop or create a gift for just one person. We all get together for another sleepover on New Year's Eve too. This year is my first New Year's being legal.

A bunch of us going on the Disney CP decided to do a Secret Santa. There was a whole page dedicated to it on facebook. We all put down our names and a bunch of our favorite thing s on a discussion. Each of us sent our addresses to the page administrators and then we were given a person to be a secret santa to. I had to send my Secret Santa gifts to Louisiana. I will post what I sent after Christmas so it is not spoiled beforehand. I just received my secret santa gift in the mail yesterday. It is a big box from Fla.! I will post pics and descriptions of what is in it after Christmas!

Well, today is 25 days until I fly down to Florida, and 28 days until I start the college program! I am SO excited! I have to start packing soon!!!! Stay safe, and be merry! Happy Holidays everyone!

Blog Day 1

Today is my first day of blogging EVER! I guess I should start out by introducing myself. My name is Nicole. I started this blog as a way to archive my experience over the next 10 months or so. I am a theatre major and public relations minor. I am so excited about the upcoming months in my life!!! I am going to be doing the Walt Disney World College Program for Spring Advantage 2010.

For those of you who do not know: Walt Disney World offers this amazing program to college students throughout the globe. I am one lucky girl whose dream came true back in September, 2009. I have always loved Disney World. When I was younger my mom would take my brother and I down every school vacation week each year. I have been to Walt Disney World roughly around 13 times maybe more.

On one of those trips I started to learn about the college program from some of the employees working there. I was asking them how they got started working down there and one of them mentioned the college program. Right then and there the college program became one of my many goals in life. Since sixth grade I have wanted to go on the Disney program. This year I finally reached my junior year in college and decided it was the perfect time to go =D

I have been doing research for this program ever since I found out about it and so I knew exactly what was needed of me in order to apply. There was not a doubt in my mind that this would not happen. I would not let them turn me away! The first day that Disney began accepting applications this year I filled mine out online and sent it in. I was not going to wait around and chance having them fill up all of their positions. I knew I wanted to do attractions, and I knew I wanted to go on the longest program I could possibly go on. I also knew that these were two of the most competitive things to be accepted for, but it didn't matter! I was going to do this. I filled out the paperwork online, watched the required videos, answered surveys, met with a disney advisor at my school, and set up my phone interview. I will do a separate blog about the phone interview (it went very very well)!

Needless to say I was accepted for the Spring Advantage Program for 2010 and I will be working in Attractions. I am so unbelievably excited about this experience. I am so excited that I am creating this blog instead of writing a 10-page paper I have due tomorrow eeeek! Don't worry I will get it done! Disney is giving me the motivation to keep my grades in check. I cannot fail, withdraw, or receive an incomplete in any class in order to go on the internship.

I will be flying down to Florida on January 17th, meeting up with my roommate who I was already matched with on January 19th, and checking in to start the program January 20th, 2010!!!!!! I cannot wait to go! I have to leave Aug. 6th, 2010, but I do not want to think about that until lets say Aug. 5th )=
Well now that you have an idea about what this blog is all about, I am going to go write that 10 page paper so I can get to Disney!
Have a Magical Evening <3
